About Bruce

I have 25 years experience in 3 different continents in the world of Customer Service. I have worked in South Africa, India and the United Kingdom at management level and was involved with the setup and implementation of systems, services and processes. During this time, I've learnt what strategies worked and which ideas failed. My proudest achievement was leading two multi-award-winning outsourced service operations.

I enjoy travelling and intend to get back to spend more time doing it. Along with my travelling interest, I enjoy photography. I am still unsure about the genre I want to pursue, but I think, with my experience in the world of eCommerce and the online environment, I am leaning toward Product Photography and the mantra that “good quality images sell products.” I also own a drone which I enjoy flying around the sky (while obeying all air space laws) and look forward to getting my PfCO (Permission for Commercial Operations) Drone License.

My current personal project is converting a LWB Peugeot Boxer into a full-time camper van. The idea of living in a van while travelling around the UK (perhaps even Europe) while making enough to survive sounds appealing. At the beginning of 2020, the world was hit with a massive blow as it went into pandemic mode. I decided that I could not continue with my business and closed it. I then found a van to convert in. Unfortunately, during Lockdown, it was extremely difficult to get hold of items needed to convert the van and so struggled. When we came out of lockdown, the van was nowhere near complete, but I could no longer afford to live in the property I was renting and so moved into a partly converted van. Since 1 August 2020, I have been living in my van full-time. I don’t have the luxuries of running water or electricity, but I do have a bed which I ensured was completed before moving in and I have a little portable gas cooker so I am able to eat.

It’s been tough but I have met some amazing people in the last few months, some of which have become very good friends. So for now, I am surviving.
